  The Coal Haus 337
  
  We recently made our second trip to The Coal Haus 337 and felt compelled to write a review. 
  We started with the cheese bread and I'll be honest I usually skip cheese breads due the fact it just take up space in my stomach, however, it looked amazing and it was. One of if not the best I've had anywear. We followed it up the the family salad, it was far more than iceberg lettuce or mixed greens. They added a little arugula and the dressing had a clean citrus finish. We may have overlooked the kids menu but when our server told us the kids could make their own pizza our granddaughter's eyes got as big as the Coal Haus pies. Such a great touch. After much debate we settled on Chases Coal Fired Favorite; with fresh mozzarella, sweet cabarse sausage, ezzo pepperoni, finished with ricotta, romano and oregano. The ricotta was an extra nice creamy component to the pie. The crust had the perfect balance of char and chew which is hard to find. The Coal Haus just may have the best pizza in all of Iowa.

  My first experience at this location.... let's just say there was a lot of area for opportunity... no greeting, staff seamed like they didn't want to either be there or didn't care that I wanted to order food. When someone finally came up to me and asked if I wanted anything no apology was given for the wait... by this time I would have been happy with a smile and given 3 stars...
  
  The food was just okay. Nothing to brag to family about.
  
  The menus were very unprofessional... a paper menu with food stains all over them makes it seam like there's either one of three things that happened. 1) ran out of time 2) it's a temporary thing 3) they just don't care

  The pizza is great, when the staff gets it right.  It does need more cheese.  I was very disappointed in the wings, not breaded as in the picture.  And after repeating the order to me we were given no blue cheese and the pizza was not cut smaller.  Just wish we could get food once without a service issue.

  Service hasn't always been the best but the pizza is awesome. Kids get to make their own pizzas up at the counter. There's no space for people waiting for seats but a good amount of seating available.

  I'm giving Coal Haus 5 stars for amazing pizza and really GREAT service! I dined there the other night with my husband and two kids. My husband and I shared a pizza (I can't remember the name but it had sausage, pepperoni, bacon and peppers) and my kids shared a cheese pizza. We also ordered Garlic Knots as an appetizer. Both pizzas were absolutely delicious and the crust was simply perfection. Every so slightly charred crust (which is how I like it), with a perfect chew and not overloaded with toppings. We also devoured our Garlic Knots and all agreed we'd order them again. Our service was perfect...our server made sure we were taken care of without hovering over us every minute. We've heard the wings are really good, so we're going to try those next time. And there will be plenty of "next times".
